Telecomm companies to launch 5g in India by the end of 2022

Since 2020, companies have started selling 5G smartphones to make people ready for the future. You may have an interesting smartphone with various 5G bands and a 5G processor. But what is the launch date of 5G in India? Charu Paliwal, a counterpoint research analyst has predicted that the 5G network can launch in India by the End of 2022!

Here the question is when will telecom companies launch 5G in India? Even 60+ countries are enjoying 5G networks worldwide, but India is still waiting for this technology.

It may surprise you that India has adopted 3G in six years and 4G in more than four years. Interestingly, 5G technology may not take this much time for adoption as we have 5G devices available in India.

According to DoT, 13 cities in India are expected to enjoy 5G network services by 2022. You can expect 5G services in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Gurugram, Jamnagar, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Gandhinagar, and Ahmedabad. Especially in Hyderabad, Telecom giant Airtel is testing 5G technology at the headquarter.

On this, CharuPaliwal, a counterpoint research analyst, has shared her thoughts. She said, "5G technology was expected to roll out by mid-2022. However, 5G spectrum is still in the auction and has delayed to the end of 2022.”

“DoT (Department of Telecommunications) may conduct 5G auction in July-August. But only if it receives 5G consultation matters in March 2022. In this case, it’s sure that consumer will have 5G access by the end of 2022 but may be limited to selected cities only.” She added.

Will 5G Network Prices Same to 4G?

According to Paliwal, “5G prices can be similar to 4G data packs to engage customers for the update. Meanwhile, companies may ask for premium or security fees from the customers unless the wide coverage of the network. I estimate the price of 5G data packs starting from 300 per month ARPU considering the tariff hikes."

Ericsson India has reported that Indians may pay 50% more for 5G bundled services than 4G plans. Also, companies can charge around a 10% premium for 5G connectivity and established data speeds. Conclusively, we all are looking forward to experiencing 5G in India and are interested to see how telecom companies will attract people.
